EVAN: OK, WE ARE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS THIS AFTERNOON OUT OF GRANT COUNTY IN NORTHERN OKLAHOMA. WE ARE LOOKING AT SKY 5 VIDEO THAT WE GOT IN OUR NEWSROOM FROM IF YOU MINUTES AGO, OUTSIDE OF MEDFORD, SOME SORT OF INCIDENT, AN EXPLOSION. A NUMBER OF FIRES NOW ARE BURNING. THIS IS AT A NATURAL GAS PLANT IN MEDFORD, HIGHWAY 81. IT IS CLOSED FOR EVACUATION FOR A TWO-MILE RADIUS. FIRST RESPONDERS ARE WORKING TO TRY TO PUT OUT A NUMBER OF FIRES. ONEOK REPORTING THAT ALL OF THE PERSONNEL ARE ACCOUNTED FOR, AND SO FAR, THE INJURIES — SO FAR, NO REPORTS OF INJURIES. THEY ARE REFERRING TO IT AS AN INCIDENT AT THE NATURAL GAS LIQUIDS FRACTIONATION FACILITY. YOU ARE LOOKING AT NEW VIDEO. YOU SEE WATER SPRAYING, OUR PILOT, SKY 5’S CHASE RUTLEDGE, HE SAYS HE DOES NOT ACTUALLY SEE ANYBODY IN THAT FACILITY, BUT A NUMBER OF THE AUTOMATIC WATER SPRAYERS ARE TRYING TO HANDLE THOSE FLAMES. I SPOKE TO THE COMPANY’S COMMUNICATION MANAGER ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF AGO. HE SENT US A STATEMENT, HE SAID THEY ARE WORKING WITH EMERGENCY RESPONDERS, AND QUOTE, “OUR FOCUS CONTINUES WORKING WITH EMERGENCY RESPONDERS TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND THE SAFETY OF THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY AND OUR EMPLOYEES.” OBVIOUSLY A HUGE SCENE. The fairgrounds building in Pond Creek is open for people to go but you cannot use Highway 81 south out of Medford, officials said.
